Nineteen years ago I had end stage renal disease due to polycystic kidney disease. I was blessed to receive a gift of life, a new kidney, from a 5 year old boy, who died in a fire. I am proud to represent Team Philadelphia in the National Transplant Olympics. This is an Olympic style event that takes place every two years in different parts of the country, in which people that have received life saving organs compete in athletic competition. Team Philadelphia is the largest team in the country due to the numerous transplant hospitals in this area. I am currently the basketball coach for Team Philadelphia. I have won a silver medal for basketball. I have also won a gold medal in volleyball.
I have also participated in the World Transplant Olympics as a member of Team USA in Manchester, England. I competed in volleyball, squash, and badminton.
